Easy-care | Productive | Dual-purpose

At Palmerston Coopworths we produce
easy-care, productive, dual-purpose sheep
ideally suited to Tasmanian conditions.

Palmerston rams have proven themselves as a perfect fit for Nosswick, providing our operation with a good mix of growth rate and fertility. Bill’s dedication to his stud is evident in the quality of the stock, the comprehensive ASBVs buyers are presented with and the sheer number of high index rams presented for sale. He has a passion for ram breeding and we, the client, have been direct beneficiaries with our flock consistently weaning 150%. Coopworth ewes have an incredible mothering ability, high fertility and an ability to thrive in tough conditions like Blackwood Creek. The progeny are quick to finish with good dressing out percentages and a well-presented carcase.”

Palmerston rams have been an important part of our farming business since 2012. For the past eight years we have been using Palmerston rams in our transition from a pure merino wool flock into a Coopworth-based meat sheep. A key driver for choosing Coopworth sires was for their fertility, mothering ability and fast growth rates as well as footrot and worm resistance. Palmerston rams have passed these traits on and our flock is now comprised primarily of Coopworth genetics bred from Palmerston rams. Confidence in the genetics stems from the high level of performance recording that Bill presents at all sales. Palmerston rams have provided our business with a hardy and highly productive ewe.
