Palmerston 170963 was used as a sire in 2021 and again this year. He has Coopdale on both his sire and dam’s side. Good growth (top 20% PWT), great eye muscle (top 5%) and good WEC. His fertility has dropped this year, due to a small number of daughters that did not lamb well in difficult conditions, resulting in higher than usual lamb mortality. The lamb mortality is due to management not genetics but unfortunately the AGBU can’t take this into account. We don’t believe the NLW ASBVs truly reflect his fertility but this won’t become apparent until more of his progeny have lambs on the ground.
